Our story
Connecting the World through African Theatres
We are a youth-led cultural organisation bridging Africa and Australia — building identity, opportunity, and community for the next generation.
Our mission
Empowering African youth through culture and connection
African Theatres exists to celebrate African culture, amplify youth voices, and create pathways for young people to lead, create, and thrive — both in Australia and across the African continent.
Through our programmes, summits, and exchange initiatives, we give young Africans and African-Australians the tools, networks, and confidence to shape their futures on their own terms.
Our vision
A world where African youth are seen, heard, and celebrated
We envision a global community where young people of African heritage are connected across borders — sharing knowledge, creating opportunities, and building a legacy of cultural pride and economic empowerment.

How we began
Born from community, built for the future
African Theatres was founded in Western Sydney by a group of young African-Australians who saw a gap — a lack of spaces where young people of African heritage could celebrate their culture, develop their skills, and connect with peers across the diaspora.
What began as a small cultural gathering grew into a movement. Today, African Theatres runs programmes spanning arts, leadership, entrepreneurship, and professional development — with a flagship annual summit that brings together young people from across Africa and Australia.
